‘Circles and Ellipses' (Chris Whitten) came to prominence in the 1980’s, playing drums with The Waterboys, World Party and Julian Cope. Whitten drummed on the enduring Waterboys anthem ’The Whole Of The Moon’, World Party’s Grammy nominated ‘Goodbye Jumbo’ album, Chrissie Hynde’s songs for the ‘Living Daylights’ James Bond soundtrack, and on the double platinum 'Shooting Rubberbands…’ debut release by Edie Brickell and The New Bohemians. In 1987 Chris joined Paul McCartney to record the critically acclaimed ‘Flowers In The Dirt’ album alongside Elvis Costello, Trevor Horn, Geoff Emerick and Sir George Martin. McCartney’s studio band then undertook a record breaking world tour, which Chris quickly reprised in 1991 with a sell out world tour as drummer in Dire Straits. Over the course of the next 20 years Chris split his time between film scoring and occasional tours, playing drums with friends such as World Party. In 2018 Here And Now Recordings released a four track EP of Chris’ electronic music, modern reworks of a computer game score he had collaborated on in the mid-90’s; Burn:Cycle. Chris named the project ‘Circles and Ellipses’. In 2019, UK techno legend Kirk Degiorgio released ‘Circles and Ellipses’ second EP on his Art imprint. Two new techno tracks by Whitten, with remixes by Degiorgio and Finnish electro maestros Morphology.
